The L2TMedia Belt of Excellence has a new holder! Our 2017 Third Quarter winner is Senior SEO Specialist, Darby Ellis. Let’s get to know him!

What is your title and what do you do here at L2TMedia?

I am a Senior SEO Specialist. I do a lot of different things such as website maintenance (monitoring Google Analytics, page performance and more), write custom meta data/headline tags/on site content, post to social media, help train others in the company on Google Analytics, write blogs for our website, constantly Slack message my coworkers about the nerdiest new thing I can find and so much more.

What do you like most about working at L2TMedia?

Fortune and glory. Just kidding. I enjoy trying to help businesses grow and troubleshoot the issues of an ever-changing field that not many people can quantify or understand the value of. I also really love my coworkers. I work with some brilliant minds, hard workers, but generally fun people.

What is the most important thing you’ve learned since you joined us?

Don’t sweat the petty things and don’t pet the sweaty things. Actually, the most important thing(s) I’ve learned are that SEO is not easy to explain to others and that it’s a living field with new updates and many changes throughout the year. You’ve got to adapt and be at the forefront of understanding your customers and how to get Google to help your customers reach your content.

What advice would you give a new hire at L2TMedia?

Go beyond the training and truly try and get in the mind of your customers. Not just automotive dealers, but their clients. Create content, ad copy, web copy, and social engagement that would attract yourself if you were in the market. That’s really how you’re going to create value for our clients.

We love cars… more than we should. What was the year/make/model of your first car?

Well, my first car was a hand-me-down ’88 Jeep Cherokee that lasted well over 200K miles without a single engine or transmission problem. Although, my favorite car was my 1996 Eagle Talon ESi that I turbocharged and drag-raced both legally and illegally until Fast and the Furious destroyed the scene.

Name your top three movies of all time.

That’s a tough one. First of all, I have to go with the OG OT – Star Wars. Second? Captain America: The First Avenger because Cap is my favorite hero and I’ve read all his comics from his re-introduction in the 1960’s until today. Finally, I’m going to have to go with Billy Madison because it’s one of those movies that still makes me laugh despite its ridiculousness.
